Mō mātou │ About PlantTech

Bold and pioneering, PlantTech Research Institute seeks to accelerate innovation and identify solutions to horticulture challenges through a variety of Technology applications.

PlantTech is a collaborative partnership founded by sector-aligned companies in the Bay of Plenty and now inclusive of the wider national primary economy, who have strengths in plant-based innovation.  The organisation’s agile approach is based on the shared challenges of its members and the general sector.

PlantTech has recently changed its corporate structure from a limited liability company to an incorporated society.  As ‘members’ rather than shareholders, it is envisaged the Society will better reflect the not-for-profit and wider agribusiness sector benefit focus that has always been at the heart of the PlantTech mission.

The organisation is based in Tauranga.

  • Mike Stenhouse of Sheffield devoted considerable time and energy in discussion and enquiry, understanding the business and its growth and importantly interpreting the “glue” which has essentially kept the board and management close during the good times and bad.
I have come out of this process confident of the appointment process and choice made, and grateful for the energy and guidance of Sheffield.

Craig Boyce, Chair, TransDiesel - Christchurch

  • The particular points of difference in working with Sheffield were their ability to quickly and accurately identify our needs, their general responsiveness and excellent in-house team who could provide specific insight and skills. Their sensitivity at a difficult time for the school, and addressing this head-on in terms of branding and appropriate messaging in all outward-facing material and response to candidate queries was outstanding.
I would recommend Sheffield without question in supporting schools in the recruitment of senior roles.

Johanna Clark, Human Resources Manager, Dilworth Trust Board - Auckland

  • Louise was very responsive and read the nuances of the role extremely well, providing a timely, quality service.

Peter Sewell, Director, Rubix - Christchurch

  • Having started the new role, I could not be happier with cultural and organisational fit, and I have no hesitation in recommending Sheffield for Executive Search and placement.

  • For someone who has always taken the DIY approach to recruitment, letting go of such an important process wasn’t easy....I would definitely engage them again, and I am! No more DIY for me!!

Simon Challies, Executive Director, BrainTree Trust - Christchurch

  • We found Sheffield to be outstanding in the calibre of candidates they brought to the table. Consequently we appointed outside the Local Govt sector and went for a private sector appointment. That has proven to be very successful.

Grant Smith - Mayor, Palmerston North City Council - North Island

  • It is all about the people and Mike (Stenhouse) has built up a high level of trust in his relationship with the MTF Board. He provides a very thorough, credible and professional process which resulted in, in this case, three high calibre and appointable candidates to choose from.

Mark Darrow, Chairman, Motor Trade Finance Limited - Christchurch

  • Sheffield Search’s service was highly professional, marked by a strong collaborative/partnership approach. Communication throughout the process was regular and full, and gave the board comfort of the progress being made.
All these elements ensured not only a successful outcome but a series of relationships very well managed.

Andrew Johnson, Chair, St Paul's Collegiate - North Island

  • Ian and the team clearly had extensive networks in the education sector which meant we were presented with candidates of exceptional quality and appropriate characteristics. They understood our requirements and led us through a recruitment exercise which was comprehensive, holistic and timely.

Sharon Wards, Chair, Lindisfarne College Council - North Island

  • Andrea gave a very positive presentation and had been involved in several similar appointments. Based on this, we decided to partner with Sheffield for the appointment of the new Principal/Headmaster.
I would strongly support another school deciding to use Sheffield for a similar appointment.

Tony Deavoll, Chair, Shirley Boys' High School - Christchurch

  • I have a long relationship with Sheffield and with Louise and Mike, which means Sheffield knows me, and our business, well.
Trust them, they know the market, and they know what they’re doing

Katrina Benedetti, GM People and Culture, Ravensdown - Christchurch

  • I am very aware of how good the Sheffield Search facility is, and at this level, Search is a very important part of the process.

Sheffield provided a superb service – the whole process was flawless – it was easy, on time and excellently executed.

  • Ian Taylor and the Sheffield Search team stood out in the selection process as having the experience, knowledge of the market, capability and fit that we were looking for.
