About the Role:

The New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) is seeking applications for the position of President.  The President is the NZOC’s representative at key Olympic and Commonwealth Games and is a position of significance and mana for the NZOC.  A key focus is to ensure New Zealand retains, develops, and strengthens its key International relationships, whilst supporting the NZOC strategic direction through advocacy and diplomacy.  The President is a member of the Board and will provide leadership and governance of the NZOC.  The term for the President will run through until May 2025 where the successful applicant can be eligible for up to two further four-year terms.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience within senior governance and leadership positions.
  • Demonstrated International Sports experience and understanding.
  • Knowledge, ‘standing’, and experience of the Olympic family.
  • Strategic ability and stakeholder focus.
  • Demonstrated experience in relationship building, engagement, and advocacy.
  • Financial, commercial, political, and business acumen.
  • Commitment to the vision and values of the NZOC.

 

About the Company:

The NZOC represents the Olympic Movement in New Zealand.  We hold the unique mandate to select and lead teams to Olympic Games and to promote the Olympic brand and values, a role that has been held for more than 110 years.

We are also responsible for selecting and leading the Team to the Commonwealth Games and supporting the Commonwealth’s aspirations through sport.

Our aim is to inspire excellence and pride in New Zealanders and enable our athletes to achieve on the world’s stage.
