About the Role

Boffa Miskell’s Board consists of four Partners and two Independent Directors. Board appointments are for a term of three years. Each year two directors retire by rotation and are able to seek re-appointment. This year, due to an Independent Director completing his maximum number of terms, there is a need to appoint an Independent Director.

To complement the firm’s growth strategy, the Board is seeking to identify and appoint an Independent Director with substantial experience in governance and a deep understanding of the professional services sector. Additionally, the role requires:

  • strong strategic and highly developed commercial acumen,
  • a genuine commitment to the organisation’s communities and the environment,
  • an understanding of the working of government/local authority/national and regional infrastructure, and
  • sophisticated networks across government/local authority/national and regional infrastructure.

A highly collaborative style will be critical to the cultural strength and growth aspirations of the firm. Boffa Miskell is committed to encouraging diversity and inclusivity.  A genuine understanding of te ao Māori, a deep commitment to Boffa Miskell’s regional presence and stakeholder communities of interest, and connection to its kaupapa and values, including commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi are essential.

The Board meeting cycle consists of seven meetings annually, as well as a range of sub-committee, shareholder and special project meetings, if and when they arise. The position is remunerated. With offices across New Zealand, this role is location-flexible, with board meetings held at various sites.
