Director roles sought for Waitangi Ltd.
Waitangi National Trust seeks up to three Directors for its Waitangi Ltd company which directly manages its assets, facilities and events that are nationally significant. Having just hosted Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall, and annually hosting the national Waitangi Day commemorations, the entire estate including the Treaty Grounds is managed responsibly by the Trust and its Company for the benefit of all New Zealanders.
All Directors on the Board need to have sound and mature governance experience, a passion for Waitangi and the strategic intent of the Trust, a track record with Maori-Crown relationships, a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to Maori capability building.
As well as the required governance skills mentioned above, in 2019 the Board is seeking applicants with one or more of the following skills: tourism and hospitality, the Crown-Maori (te tiriti) relationship, technology expertise to build the customer experience, financial management, and well-developed acumen with stakeholder and media management. In the selection process the Board seek to maintain and build diversity of the Board and has a preference for applicants within a close geographic proximity for pragmatic reasons. The roles are remunerated and have a three-year term.
