  • Long Term Strategic & Commercial Focus

Established in 1970, Motor Trade Finance Limited (MTF Finance) has built a strong reputation nationally as an innovative provider of consumer finance solutions with a focus on the private motor vehicle sector.  With total assets of $784m and new loan sales in excess of $515m in 2019, MTF Finance continues to grow its business through expanding its national franchise and dealer network in all major towns and cities, from Kaitaia to Invercargill.

MTF Finance is a commercial enterprise with a co-operative spirit.  The company recognises that its future success depends on doing things smarter than competitors, building empathy and engaging with its originators to support them to deliver quality service and provide products that build loyalty and trust with their customers’.

New technologies, and evolving customer expectations, are changing consumer behaviour, and are heavily impacting the financial services and automotive industries.  These changes create challenges and opportunities for MTF Finance and the board are aware of the need to be agile, adaptive, and put the originators, and their customers, at the centre of its business.

Due to the upcoming retirement of one of the two Independent Directors, the Board is seeking to appoint an Independent Director to its Board.

We seek interest from people who show high levels of business acumen, strong interpersonal skills, accompanied by previous experience of working at a governance level.

Specifically, we seek candidates with significant experience in either finance, consumer marketing or digital innovation, at a strategic level.  The Board is committed to driving a culture that values diverse thinking and inclusion.  Directors must have regard to diversity, recognising that diversity enables discussion and ideas that lead to better business outcomes.

It is preferable that candidates keen to be considered for this position have connections or reside in the South Island.  It is anticipated that the candidate appointed from this process will progress to the role of Chair in due course.  Accordingly, previous experience as a Chair will be preferable.  If you feel you have what it takes to help drive MTF Finance into the future, we look forward to hearing from you.
