KCDC Affordable Housing Trust Board Appointments

Kapiti Coast

He Angitūtanga: The opportunity

Kāpiti Coast District Council is currently establishing a trust to support the ongoing provision of social and affordable housing across the district. This new entity is intended to improve overall affordability, housing access, wellbeing for social housing tenants, add much-needed housing supply on the Coast, and to create partnerships in the development and delivery of housing.

The entity will be an independent, charitable housing trust, with Council, mana whenua and independent representation on the board. Once established, the Trust will seek to provide relevant, holistic services for members across the housing continuum. The exact scope of its remit will follow the formal transfer of responsibilities - from KCDC to the Trust - at an agreed future point.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the establishment of a significant not-for-profit organisation focused on making a meaningful difference to some of our most vulnerable people.

He korēro mōu: About you

Inaugural Trustees will provide best practice governance in accordance with the purposes for which the Trust is being established (download an information pack here). You will govern with our communities’ outcomes front-of-mind, along with a commitment to the entity’s long-term sustainability.

In particular, we are seeking applications from those with:

  1. Experience in community, social or affordable housing;
  2. Knowledge of working within the paradigms of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Te ao Māori, mātauranga Māori, and tikanga Māori;
  3. Empathy for the communities we serve;
  4. A background in strategy development, business planning, policy development and organisational change;
  5. Experience in property development;
  6. Experience in financial management;
  7. Other relevant leadership experience in the social, not-for-profit and NGO sectors.

The successful candidates will have a track record in governance, including the successful leadership of organisations at establishment or during significant transition.

For those seeking a fantastic governance opportunity to contribute in a dynamic affordable housing environment, we are eager to hear from you.

If this sounds like your next challenge, apply along with your cover letter and CV by close of business, Monday 27 May 2024.
