About the Role:

The SmartCo Board is comprised of five of the leaders of the Joint Venture companies plus an Independent Chair, who is transitioning out and will finish in December. The Board believes that it is imperative to appoint an Independent Chair who will work closely with the Board to enhance the organisation’s impartial governance and continually evolve its strategic direction, growth and commercialisation opportunities. A focus is required on key relationships, renewal of the long-term contracts, technology advancements and market opportunities.

The Independent Chair will also be expected to provide close support and mentoring to the Christchurch based CEO, so candidates should be easily accessible.

Skills & Experience:

Candidates of interest will likely possess knowledge and experience of working within the software and technology sector, with emerging/start-up organisations, ideally having commercialisation experience. Applicants will also bring to the role a successful track record of governance experience and be able to demonstrate their contribution to the successful growth of an evolving business. Proven strategic thinking ability and sound commercial acumen are therefore essential. Prior experience as a Board Chair is also desirable, along with the time capacity to support the CEO.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to play a significant role in the future growth and direction of an innovative and progressive organisation within a continually evolving sector.
