The New Zealand Financial Markets Association is the professional body for wholesale financial markets in New Zealand. The Association represents its members’ interests by ensuring the sound management of financial markets in NZ. This includes self-regulatory initiatives, industry advocacy, education, and developing professional standards for members when dealing in these markets. By promoting efficiency, integrity and professionalism in New Zealand’s wholesale financial markets, NZFMA provides leadership in advancing the interests of all market participants.
Currently NZFMA is seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to oversee the delivery of its organisational vision and ensure the sound day-to-day management of its operations. Working three days a week, this role will ensure that both short and long-term objectives, as agreed with the NZFMA Board, are achieved.
Candidates for this role will bring sound knowledge of the financial services sector, with an understanding of various asset classes in the financial markets and their relevant regulations. Also beneficial is knowledge of financial benchmarks, their construction, application and associated regulation.
Critically, this role will suit an appointee who can work independently, and can deliver specific, member-focused outcomes when working to a broad strategic remit. The Chief Executive Officer will proactively build external partnership across the sector, ensuring their own activity is targeted to reflect the best interests of its members.
This is an exciting role in which the appointee will be contributing to the ongoing evolution and uplift of New Zealand’s banking system. As such, a commitment to service will be the hallmark of the next Chief Executive Officer. For those seeking a challenging career opportunity in a dynamic market sector, this role represents a compelling next career step.
