About the Role
Boffa Miskell’s Board has six members: four Partners and two Independent Directors. Appointments run for a three-year term, and each year two directors retire by rotation and may seek re-appointment. One of the Independent Director’s term has elapsed, so we are seeking a new Independent Director to join the Board.
You will work alongside the Partner Directors and the Chair. You will provide independent challenge and insight to the leadership team and engage with shareholders, clients and the communities the firm serves. The Board meets seven times a year, with sub-committee, shareholder and special project meetings as needed. You will help:
- Set strategic direction with fellow directors
- Bring a sharp risk lens to Board decisions
- Guide ownership, shareholder and organisational design
- Steer business change and growth with confidence
- Test financial results and commercial plans
- Challenge constructively and back management
- Strengthen links with iwi, mana whenua and key stakeholders
- Contribute to sub-committee and special project work
About You/Skills and Experience
You are an experienced director who brings commercial clarity, sound judgement and a genuine sense of values to the boardroom. To be considered, you must have:
- Proven governance experience, including service as a director
- A demonstrable record of leadership and of guiding business transformation
- Genuine commercial acumen and real-world business experience
- Proven strategic thinking and the ability to assess and manage risk
We would also value:
- Professional experience in business ownership structures, shareholding and organisational design
- A clear grasp of micro and macro economics and the wider market environment
- Confidence working through financial principles. A formal finance qualification is not required.
- An understanding of iwi business, mana whenua, te ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
