Ako Mātātupu: Teach First NZ’s vision is to ensure all children realise their full potential. In doing so it aims to be a leader in ensuring all young people have access to education equality.
To this end the organisation recruits top graduates and professionals into schools where they teach while completing a post graduate teaching qualification. Ako Mātātupu supports these committed individuals to grow in the knowledge and skills that make a real difference. This programme is at the core of engaged participants, alumni and a network of partnerships that continue to address the challenges of equal access to education and the opportunities that ensue.
The organisation now seeks a Chairperson to lead and support its next phase of development and growth. Candidates should possess deep and well-proven governance experience, preferably as a well established Chair and with a proven background of building a strong and supportive relationship with the Chief Executive Officer. With high visibility and impact, the successful candidate will be capable of broadening Ako Mātātupu’s relationships with a range of communities, and in the private and public sectors. Exposure to fundraising and expertise in raising brand awareness will be crucial attributes. A passion for and commitment to social justice through education and cultural responsiveness are central to the leadership and further development of this governance body.
An honorarium is offered for this crucial Chair role.
