About The Role

Based in Christchurch, the Payroll Manager is a senior role leading a capable payroll services team, developing payroll, time-sheeting and employee systems as well as the provision of expertise and support to managers.  Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring the payroll services team
  • Ensuring payroll activities are managed with accuracy, timeliness, confidentiality and compliance with all relevant agreements, legislation, company policy and procedures
  • The successful testing and implementation of a replacement Time & Attendance system
  • Leadership of significant projects across this large and complex local organisation


Skills and Experience

Preferred candidates will be skilled payroll/employee services professionals with at least 5 years of leadership experience in a large, multi-faceted business environment, supporting internal customers across multiple locations.  You will:

  • Be recognised for your leadership skills and developing high performing & modern payroll teams
  • Have strong technical ability and experience with payroll systems, complex collective agreements and integrated HRIS systems, including Pay Global and rostering systems
  • Be skilled with NZ Employment Law including leave legislation, company reward policies, producing management reports, data analysis and HR/Payroll metrics
  • Be values-focused and collaborative in style, with demonstrated success in establishing strong relationships at all levels throughout an organisation
