Sheffield Search is assisting the New Zealand Rugby (NZR) Board Appointments and Remuneration Panel (ARP) to facilitate the recruitment of the NZ Rugby Board consisting of nine Independent Board Members.
Following the recent governance review, NZR now formally invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced governance professionals to join the NZR Board. Prospective Board members must be able to demonstrate that they can think and act independently.
One Board Member must whakapapa Māori and have knowledge, understanding and lived experience of te ao Māori in a complex organisational context.
Another position must identify and have lived experience as Pasifika with ancestral and authentic cultural connections and an ability to apply a Pasifika world view in a complex organisational context.
Three Board Members must have served on the board of a New Zealand Provincial Rugby Union. The Board must also comply with its gender diversity targets, which currently require at least 40% of the board are female.

Highly sophisticated skills and experience to be considered carefully for the Board, which will assist and guide the decision-making process, amongst other factors, include:
- Sound commercial skills;
- Financial acumen;
- Deep knowledge of rugby at all levels of the game in New Zealand; and
