Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional?   Network Tasman Limited (NTL) is seeking an experienced Company Accountant to join their team and drive financial success.

Network Tasman Limited owns and operates the electricity distribution network in Nelson city and the wider Nelson and Tasman areas, distributing power to more than 53,300 consumer connections across 10,800 km².  They are proudly consumer-owned, with significant returns to consumers through discounts and dividends, providing essential services in the Nelson region.  They pride themselves on their commitment to excellence, innovation, and community support.

As the Company Accountant, you will play a crucial role in preparing financial statements, reports and budgets, providing comprehensive financial support, and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. You will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and other key stakeholders to drive financial performance and support strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports, company performance statements, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and NZ IFRS.
  • Preparation of the annual budget model.
  • Management of the treasury portfolio and daily cash requirements.
  • Overseeing stock systems, billing processes, and provision of backup support for various entities within the NTL Group.
  • Maintenance of asset registers, management of capital projects ledger, ensuring accurate reconciliations and reporting.
  • Monitor compliance with delegated authority policies and ensure timely and accurate payment processing.
  • Prepare regulatory disclosures and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Prepare tax returns, calculate deferred tax, and update financials for relevant tax changes.
  • Review and improve internal controls, undertake special projects, and provide feasibility analysis models.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to health and safety practices and actively promote a safe work environment.
     

Qualifications and Skills sought:

  • Chartered Accountant (desirable).
  • Bachelor of Commerce or Accounting.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting and IT systems, accounting and taxation standards, and legislation.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in preparing financial statements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High standards of delivery and continuous improvement mindset.
  • A continuous learning orientation, focused on keeping up with current developments and industry/area of expertise changes.

You will also be customer focused with a commitment to meeting the needs of colleagues and clients, and well-organised with a focus on ensuring tasks are completed and deadlines are met.

Knowledge of the Electricity/Infrastructure sector would be an advantage.
