Te Kaunihera Manapou Paramedic Council is the regulatory authority responsible for the regulation of paramedics. Established in 2020, its primary function is to protect our health and safety by ensuring paramedics are fit to practise. It does this by providing a range of statutory functions as laid out in the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003 (HPCA Act). As a regulatory authority, independent from the Crown, our partnership with iwi and Māori underpins our principles and everything we do.

Currently Te Kaunihera Manapou are seeking a GM/Registrar to oversee the day -to-day management of the organisation, the delivery of its strategy, and the proactive engagement with its registrants and partners. This role combines a focus on regulatory compliance with a commitment to authentic, meaningful collaboration with our communities. Integrity, fairness and accountability are the hallmarks of this secretariat, and will be reflected in all GM/Registrar activity.

Candidates for this role will have a background in contexts of similar legislative complexity, and be adept at balancing the delivery of a broad portfolio of responsibilities. A background that includes direct engagement/accountability to a governance group is also useful. Given the nature of paramedicine as a vocation, the appointee to this role will display a similar commitment to our communities, and a demonstrated passion for service and inclusion.

We are committed to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, diversity and inclusion. We not only encourage, but are actively seeking, engagement and applications from people from diverse backgrounds. We consider your employment and academic background in these processes, but more importantly your ability to make fair and proportionate decisions. We respect the mana of people of all backgrounds and believe those world views are an integral part of being an effective regulator.

For those seeking a compelling professional challenge in a dynamic organisation, this role represents an exciting next career step.
