St Hilda’s Collegiate School, located in the heart of Dunedin, is a thriving and vibrant State-Integrated Anglican Girls’ School with a roll of approximately 470 students, years 7 -13 (285 day, 165 boarding and 20 international students). About The Role:
Our new Principal/Tumuaki will be:

- Excellent at public speaking, skilled at difficult conversations, and able to represent the school effectively with genuine care
- Committed to valuing the student voice, seeking their ideas for improvement and appreciating all students.
Our new Principal/Tumuaki will have:
- Proven experience in girls' education and an understanding of adolescent female development
- Contemporary awareness of issues young women face including social media, technology, mental health and diverse needs, whilst maintaining tradition, embracing diversity and fostering genuine inclusion.
- Genuine Christian faith evident through character and decisions and an ability to embody St Hilda’s special character and values and act as a thought leader for how faith shapes school culture, pedagogy and philosophy
- A strong wellbeing focus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, listening and taking time for genuine conversations
- Mana, commanding respect with strong presence whilst remaining warm and accessible, with a firm but fair style
- A sound understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga Māori and a demonstrated commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Strong financial and business acumen, managing budgets, with data-driven decision-making and ability to handle complex competing operational demands.
Experience with boarding in schools would be an advantage as would experience reporting to Boards. Leadership experience gained in a special character school would also be valuable.
