Situated in Opua, the gateway to the beautiful Bay of Islands, this full service, 420-berth facility is the primary point of entry to New Zealand for yachties arriving in New Zealand from the Pacific. The Bay of Islands Marina is internationally recognised and renowned for its environmental standards and for its provision of a wide range of boatyard services and amenities.
This newly created role will appeal to Marine professionals looking to advance their careers in a premier location. Reporting to the Maritime General Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team across all aspects of the Marina’s operations including berths, moorings, guest services, maintenance, and security.
A key focus will be on assisting the Maritime General Manager in the development of the Marina’s future infrastructure and in the implementation of marketing and sales strategies aimed at developing new business and increasing revenue. The role encompasses budgetary management, overseeing rental agreements, managing the customer service team and managing stakeholders.
In addition to proven experience leading day-to-day marina operations and team leadership skills; the ideal candidate will have a background in customer services, sales and marketing and a track record of success in meeting revenue driven targets. A working knowledge of boating and maritime regulations will be important as will be familiarity with boat maintenance and repair. Candidates require exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and ideally formal marina credentials and/or qualifications in related fields such as business, hospitality, or tourism.
