Craig Rice brings more than 25 years of senior leadership and advisory experience to his new role as Interim Chief Operations and Finance Officer at Tauranga City Council. A long‑standing Partner at PwC, he served over a decade on the firm’s New Zealand leadership team in key positions including Managing Partner for Consulting and Advisory, Auckland Managing Partner, and Strategy & Investments Leader.
Throughout his career, Craig has led major assignments across infrastructure, utilities, and local government, advising on more than $12 billion in completed projects. His extensive portfolio includes large‑scale valuations, strategy reviews, and commercial transactions, supporting some of New Zealand’s most significant energy, transport, and public‑sector developments.
In this role, Craig will provide strategic leadership across the organisation’s operational and financial functions, supporting the delivery of efficient services and responsible financial management for the city. His appointment strengthens the Council’s focus on high quality service delivery and continuous improvement while the organisation continues its post transformation development.
