- Broad strategic responsibility
- Commercially innovative, community-focused
- Contribute to a vibrant, thriving Wellington City
Wellington is a vibrant, progressive and ambitious city, known globally as one of the best Capitals in which to work and live. The centre of government, Wellington is always humming with its diverse range of cultural, commercial, sporting and community activities. In this context Wellington City Council (WCC) provides services to more than 200,000 residents, and is committed to enhancing the wellbeing of everyone who lives here.
At this time, WCC is seeking to appoint a Chief Financial Officer to partner with the executive and to lead the team responsible for all of Council’s finance functions. This role combines the oversight and management of operational finance, with leadership of the Council’s long term financial and funding strategies, a business partnership approach with the Council’s multiple services, and best practice in commercial activity, contracting and procurement.
This is a truly integrated CFO role, where success will depend on the effective balancing of economic, financial, social and environmental bottom lines. Innovation is front of mind for WCC at this time, as is the need for a CFO who can collaborate effectively as part of a high-performing, ambitious and community-focused executive. An ability to forge strong, functional networks across Council, as well as effective relationships with external partners, will also be important for success in this role.
For those seeking a fantastic career opportunity in a dynamic local government setting, this role represents a compelling next career step.
