Environment Southland is facing its biggest challenge – and they are up for it!
Improving water quality and supporting action on-the-ground are driving the innovative programmes already underway at the regional council. Working collaboratively with tangata whenua and stakeholders to ensure the region thrives for generations to come is the key objective.
To help lead that change we’re on the lookout for a collaborative and proven leader with strong commercial acumen to join the executive team in this newly established role of General Manager Corporate.
We’re looking for a strong people leader and communicator, positive, proactive, flexible and, most importantly, a team player who embraces challenge and change.
A new role for the organisation, as the General Manager Corporate you will be strategic thinking and future-focussed. You’ll look beyond the numbers to assess their impact and what it means for the direction of the organisation, and provide a voice at the executive table to ensure our assets and reserves are utilised efficiently, and the financial implications of decisions are considered.
This is a broadly based role which will include leading the procurement function, contract management, risk and legal services across the organisation, ideally coupled with experience developing a project management office. A strong customer focus and a high degree of personal authenticity, integrity and EQ are also sought. Prior experience in local or central government will be an advantage but not essential. Ideally you will be CA qualified.
The role is based in Invercargill and reports directly to the Chief Executive. This is your opportunity to be part of the next stage in rising to meet the challenges being faced, shaping a new and exciting team, and playing a key role in a council which will be a part of a thriving Southland.
