- Key Governance Position
- Diverse, Challenging and Changing Industry
- Commercial Focus with Community Benefit
- South Canterbury Community Connections and Knowledge Sought
About the Company:
Alpine Energy manages South Canterbury’s electricity distribution network (connecting over 31,000 customers). The company is owned by the South Canterbury community and as such, all profits go back into the community by way of dividends and local sponsorship. The Alpine Energy Group also consists of subsidiary companies with separate boards, NETcon (an electrical contracting company), in addition to complementary investments in metering and technology companies - On Metering and SmartCo.
The Shareholder (LineTrust South Canterbury) holds a 40% share ownership in Alpine Energy and seeks to appoint an experienced and high performing Director to the Alpine Energy board due to the upcoming completion of a current Director’s term.
About The Role:
Applicants should be experienced Directors with a proven track record of effective contribution to the successful performance and long-term future planning of a significant business at a governance level. Strong leadership skills, a collaborative approach to working as part of a Board, proven strategic thinking ability, well-developed commercial acumen, and a high level of intellect are therefore essential.
A strong appreciation for Health & Safety is mandatory for any Director and any knowledge/experience of asset management from within the energy/electricity sector would be beneficial, however it is not a prerequisite for application. Having connections and community knowledge from within the South Canterbury district is highly desirable.
The ability to contribute to responding to industry challenges and identify new growth opportunities will be key to ensuring that the community continues to benefit from this successful investment over the long term.
The Board usually convenes 10 times a year (6 face to face).
This is a remunerated appointment, for a three year term.
It’s an exciting time for the electricity sector, with disruptive technologies, an ever-evolving regulatory environment and changing consumer behaviour.
