Aquaheat NZ as the largest subcontractor of mechanical contracting services for vertical construction across NZ. Aquaheat Facility Services provides HVAC, plumbing and other hard services throughout NZ. CoolLogic provides industrial refrigeration contracting and servicing to primary industries across NZ, and Caldwell and Levesque and Electriserv provide commercial and industrial electrical contracting services throughout NZ.
About the Role
As our Legal Counsel, you'll work closely with our Legal and Risk Manager to provide high-quality, commercially focused legal advice across the Group.
This role offers the exciting challenge of adapting to the needs of a growing business while ensuring robust legal frameworks are in place. You'll be responsible for providing timely and solution-focused legal advice, from contract review, regulatory advice to dispute resolution. Your responsibilities will include reviewing a wide range of contracts; providing legal advice on complex matters; supporting the Electricity Distribution business; supporting the development and implementation the development of standardised legal processes across the Group. This role offers a unique blend of legal expertise and business strategy and is ideal for a proactive and adaptable legal professional who can balance independent work with cross-functional team collaboration.
About You:
- A Law Degree and membership in a NZ Legal professional body
- At least 4 years of post-admission experience in commercial law, preferably in the construction, facilities management or energy sectors
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization
- A strategic mindset and the ability to provide practical, business-focused legal solutions
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to handle complex legal issues independently
- A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively across different teams and departments
- A passion for continuous improvement and the ability to thrive in a growth-oriented company
