About The Role:
Reporting to the CEO, the Accountant manages the day-to-day accounting functions of the Theatre, ensuring accurate financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting.
The role also provides company secretary services as required and supports the preparation of Board reports and papers.
This role is .8 of an FTE and there is flexibility for when hours are worked.
The Ideal Person
As the ideal candidate you will be highly analytical, able to interpret and analyse financial data to inform sound planning and decision making. You will be a stickler for detail, able to deliver on time and to a high standard.
A confident communicator you will be comfortable working with a diverse range of people and will actively provide support and advice to the CEO and Heads of Departments to enhance their financial forecasting and monitoring.
In addition, you will have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (a CA would be an advantage)
- At least 3 years’ experience in accounting, preferably in a nonprofit and/or CA firm, arts, or entertainment setting
- Strong knowledge of New Zealand accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting practices including Charities Act.
- Advanced computer skills and experience with accounting software Xero is essential.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with the Board and team members.
