Te āheinga - The opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager Corporate Innovation, this tier three level role has five direct reports and a broader team of 35. The role’s focus will be on leading and delivering strategic and operational financial systems, insights, advice, and information, that proactively enables organizational decision making with a focus on great delivery and customer service.
Tino takohanga - Key responsibilities: / accountabilities
- Driving improved business performance, both financial and non-financial, through strategic and operational insights, advice and services
- Ensuring the team’s performance meets agreed expectations, and that team members are developed through active mentoring and coaching which is aligned to organisation strategies
- Delivery of all financial reporting and forecasting, both for internal and external purpose
- Management and oversight of all treasury and funding requirements; and being the financial lead for strategic long-term planning
Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako - Essential skills and experience:
The role requires a finance leader who inspires through ‘walking the talk’ and has a commitment to the Council’s values and behaviours.
The successful candidate will be CA qualified with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in leading finance teams across financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting in large, diverse and complex organisational settings.
Key Competencies and Qualities sought include:
- A relationship management focus with the ability to be the face of the organisation in the community, particularly with iwi and hapū, central government, business groups, sector groups and partners.
- The ability to ensure regulatory compliance and legislative requirements are fulfilled.
- A strategic mindset with the ability to provide strong analytical and creative input into developing new approaches in dealing with complex problems.
- Being a pragmatic team player, with the ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence and sound judgement, whilst collaborating and cooperating on decisions and initiatives
